The PDA Union - Strength In Numbers

Benefits of Union Membership For existing PDA Members

PDA members who also elect to join the union will be entitled to the most comprehensive service.

As well as receiving the full legal and indemnity insurance and the other benefits of being a PDA member, they will also be entitled to representation at grievance and disciplinary hearings.

In practice, this means that if any pharmacist has a problem, a phone call to the PDA offices will provide access to a wide range of support and advice. Most problems may be resolved in this way, but if the matter requires further action, the PDA legal team can make sure that the pharmacist has the best advice possible and now, by virtue of the union listing, can brief any trade union representative that may be required by the pharmacist to support that pharmacist at employment hearings.

Pharmacists can also influence policy and have a voice on national pharmacy issues through the union communication structure. This is an added benefit through the union constitution that does not exist through the PDA alone, even though the PDA works hard to ensure that the views of its members are taken into account when formulating policy.

We would recommend that all qualifying pharmacists join both the PDA and the PDA Union for maximum benefit and total peace of mind.
